When and How to Use 2Toms Skin-On-Skin Dressing Kit and its Benefits for Protecting Existing Blisters

When and How to Use 2Toms Skin-On-Skin Dressing Kit and its Benefits for Protecting Existing Blisters - Medi-Dyne Healthcare Products

Blisters are bubble-like bumps that form in the upper layer of the skin containing fluids. Most times blisters would contain a clear watery part of your blood called serum, at other times it could contain blood or pus.

As an active individual, at some point in your life, you have likely experienced blisters. Although most blisters will heal on their own with no medical aid, we can agree that they can be painful and uncomfortable. As minor as they can be, they can hinder your concentration, reduce your performance, and generally make you uncomfortable. They also stand the risk of becoming infected.

What Can Cause Blisters to Form

Blisters can develop in any part of the body and for several reasons. Knowing the cause could be your first step to finding relief. Outlined below are various ways you can develop blisters.

  • Friction: Blisters can develop when there is recurring friction or rubbing. They can develop in any part of the body, but they are most common on the feet and hands. This is because your hands and feet perform repetitive actions more than any other parts of your body.

As an athlete, workouts that require you to lift and grip can help you build and tone your muscles, but this repetition may create blisters. Constant friction between your hands and the equipment can produce blisters. You can also develop blisters on your feet as you train due to the friction between your feet and shoes, or toes rubbing together.

  • Extreme Temperature: Burns can quickly develop into blisters. While a second-degree burn will form a blister almost immediately, a first-degree burn will often take a couple of days before developing a blister. Frostbite can also produce blisters on the skin.
  • Chemical Reaction: Sometimes your skin may react terribly to certain chemicals and cause blisters to develop on the skin. Chemicals present in detergent and cosmetics may react badly to the skin and cause blisters.

How to Provide the Right Environment for your Blister to Heal

Blisters form as a defense mechanism to protect the skin from the external environment such as pressure or friction. As annoying and uncomfortable as it can be, avoid popping a blister to prevent infections. Allow it to pop naturally.

Wearing shoes that don’t fit properly is a common cause of friction blisters on the feet. Its best to switch to a more comfortable pair of shoes for a few days. This will give your feet time to heal. To avoid friction blisters, you should also wear loose-fitting clothes while exercising, wear gloves, or apply a blister and chafing prevention product such as 2Toms BlisterShield or 2Toms SportShield.

For existing blisters, bandages or pads can provide your skin the soothing relief it needs to heal. They can provide protection so the blister doesn’t worsen and allow it to heal while exercising or going about your daily activities.
