How to Prevent Thigh Chafing Disaster while on Summer Vacation

My husband and I just returned from a weeklong anniversary trip in Key West, Florida. While we had a great time, we were a little surprised by the heat. We are from north Texas and thought we were accustomed to the heat and humidity. Boy, were we wrong, and it was only May, not August mind you.

If you have ever been to Key West, you know that you walk almost everywhere. Even if you were to rent a golf cart or scooter, parking is extremely difficult to find, so you end up having to walk most of the way to your destination anyway.Ā We chose to just walk everywhere and not be bothered with having to deal with any rentals. The walking was nice because we were able to see so much and easily run in and out of any store or attraction that appealed to us.Ā

My attire of choice for the time in Key West was shorts or sundresses. This, along with the heat and walking began to create a not so little problem for me.Ā You see, my thighs are not little, and they rub each other constantly. This rubbing and friction combined with sweat created by the heat was the perfect condition for thigh chafing. It began about midday on the first day, and we were nowhere close to our hotel.

Luckily, I had a 2TomsĀ® SportShieldĀ® towelette with me.Ā SportShield is a thin liquid that coats the skin to protect it against chafing and blisters caused by friction and rubbing. It is waterproof and sweatproof, lasts all day, and does not wear off.Ā

Soon after the irritation began, I suggested to my husband that we stop off at a cute little bar I could see up ahead. My thought was that we could cool off with a Key Lime Colada, and I could make my way to the ladiesā€™ room for some much-needed attention to my legs. I was just in time.

The area of my thighs that were rubbing together had begun to turn red and little bumps were forming. I quickly opened the 2Toms SportShield single-use packet and pulled out a portion of the towelette and rubbed it on the area of my thighs that was irritated, then extended covering other areas of my thighs that had the possibility of rubbing together.Ā

Instant relief was achieved!

I could still feel a slight irritation, but nothing like what I had just been experiencing. In no time, we were back out walking and enjoying all that Duvall Street has to offer.Ā

Each subsequent morning of our vacation, I used the 2Toms SportShield roll-on before getting dressed. I rolled it on my upper legs and even under my bra straps. I continued to keep a towelette with me just in case I missed a spot.Ā  Fortunately, it wasnā€™t needed.

While on vacation I learned two things:

  1. Key West is a wonderful vacation spot.
  2. Never travel without 2Toms SportShieldbecause vacations should never include chafing thighs or any chafing for that matter!

2Toms SportShield can be found at medi-dyne.com. They also have a formula designed for more sensitive skin called SportShield XTRA. This formula contains natural antimicrobials and skin softening ingredients for an extra supple product. Both formulas can be purchased in 1.5oz roll-ons and single use towelettes.Ā
